Hey there,
A start to fresh new week and I’ve got brand deals and other ideas on the brain. I want to share some observations and experiences I’ve personally had with brand deals.
It’s pretty shocking.
Let’s get into it…
What are brand deals?
First, real quick, what the heck are brand deals?
This is when you, the creator, partner with a brand or company that pays you to talk about them to your audience on or in:
Social media
Your newsletter
Your blog or website
Your podcast
Brand deals can be pretty lucrative and support a full-time income alone but, there’s one problem.
They’re not consistent.
Expecting to earn from brand deals each month is tough and while doing it is possible (for example, I do it), the work involved can be a full-time job in itself!
Since the holidays, I’ve been voraciously pitching brands, and hundreds of companies with little outcome happening.
Why?
I started doing some research and began to realize that the industry is shifting, as evidenced by my personal experience and learning from other creators and their experiences now.
Partnering with brands is still possible but, in a new way…
The new “brand deal” partnership
Affiliate partnerships.
Working with brands in an affiliate relationship is pay-for-performance. Instead of being compensated up front on a flat fee for your work, you earn based on your results.
Affiliate partnerships can actually be more high-earning than brand deals and a passive income stream to create for yourself.
For example, with one company I have been working with for almost two years, we started with one brand deal.
That evolved into an affiliate relationship and I’ve earned FAR MORE from affiliate commissions than I did from the brand deal, even if we did multiple campaigns throughout the year!
What does this mean?
The creator climate is changing.
Brand deals are still happening but, they’re different now. They might be tougher to secure unless you’re very niched down.
Or, they may be in combination with an affiliate relationship or other kind of partnership with the brand.
Interesting stuff, right?
I have mixed feelings about it all. I really enjoy the brand deals. I can earn four figures for 10-15 minutes of work. And get paid upfront.
Affiliates can earn four figures recurring every month for about an hour or so of upfront work and light maintenance throughout the year.
Two very different angles.
Anyway, just wanted to share this and see what your thoughts are.
Lets talk about affiliates
Affiliates are super interesting in and of themselves.
I am a big fan of this revenue model. It’s helped me earn a full-time income from this income stream alone.
Digital marketing aligns right along with this pretty nicely.
You use digital or online promo methods to drive sales to your products whether you’re selling ebooks, courses or other products.
The Roadmap 2.0 is a course that teaches you what you need to know to thrive with digital marketing.
Sales funnels, Pinterest, TikTok, branding, you name it!
200+ video lessons taught by experts and the course comes with master resell rights, which means it’s yours to resell after you buy it, if you wish!
What I love about this course is that it’s constantly evolving.
This is the second version of it and a third version, Roadmap 3.0 is coming out in February!
If you have Roadmap 2.0, you automatically get upgraded to 3.0!
I have been seeing this course changing the lives of creators, taking them from server jobs to full-time digital marketers.
One of my favorite fellow creators was talking the other night about taking a random day off to play basketball for hours because he wanted to and the happiness and joy on his face as he described it was priceless!
This time freedom and flexibility is what most people crave in their lives and a digital marketing career can help you achieve it.

Have a great week!
