Side hustle alert: Flip
Hey,
I’ve been talking about this app a tiny bit, Flip.
Some have said it’ll be the next TikTok. I don’t know about that but, I did join and I want to share what I’ve learned so far.
Flip is a shopping app. You post your product reviews + you can post entertainment posts (these are like your everyday posts you would post on any social channel).
It’s a few years old and pretty early. The top Flip user has about 28K followers.
Flip pays you to scroll their videos
Flip pays you based on the views of your videos
Flips (entertainment posts) and clips (product review posts)
Wishlist feature called Desire, where others can gift you products
It makes me think of TikTok Shop.
There’s a heavy emphasis on the product reviews.
In fact, to be able to post, they require you buy a product. That unlocks the posting feature.
I shared this with my friend and he was like, immediately no.
In the meantime, I already made a purchase haha.
I bought a bracelet that cost $16.99 but with the discount I paid about $11 to $13 I think.
I think of Flip like TikTok Shop.
I’ve bought and have been gifted products from TikTok Shop. I’m fine investing a little into a project if the return is worth it.
For me, it has paid off with TikTok Shop.
Flip gives discounts too, so you’re not paying full price. There are even ways to get free products.
Getting paid to scroll videos is something every user has available. It’s not a lot, literally a few cents per view of the video. I’ve watched a video for 2 seconds and earned.
But, the money you make from scrolling videos can only be used towards buying products on the app.
When you post videos, whether it be a flip or a clip, you can earn based on the views and outcome of the video. The money you earn here can be paid to you (direct deposit to your bank account).
So far, I’ve heard of creators earning as much as $3K to $4K in a few weeks on Flip.
I’ve heard creators getting paid (into their bank account) as much as $300.
This is from my limited research of Flip so far.
So, I’m going to give it a try.
My experience so far
It’s kind of hard to get followers. I have 2 followers (1 is a friend) and have about 6 posts on the platform. You can post up to 5 times a day.
It doesn’t give me a TikTok feel so I don’t know if I’d browse for leisure like I do on TikTok but, I think it’s a side hustle that could potentially be lucrative.
I’ll share an update in a month or so.
Have you heard of Flip?
Would you try it?
Best,
Jenn
