My plan to outsource my life this holiday season
Happy Friday, friend! I saw a TikTok video that my sister shared with me and it resonated. So, I decided to put some of these tactics into play for myself this holiday season.
The holidays are busy. It can be fun and stressful, at the same time.
In the video, the creator talks about some simple changes she made, living with chronic fatigue that help her manage her life. She shares her strategies so unapologetically, and I love it!
Some of her tips:
Hire a laundry service
Use a rolling trashcan that she can easily move throughout the kitchen as she needs to
A stool on wheels to sit down when she needs to
Buying ready-made meals that just need to be warmed up
Using paper plates
Family closet (instead of individual closets for each family member)
I wouldn’t adopt all her tips but, some of them I’d do 100%. The laundry service is so tempting. It’s funny that laundry is my most hated chore. I don’t know why.
The service is more affordable than you might think. You basically put your dirty laundry in a bag outside your front door. Someone comes by to pick them up, then washes and folds them and brings them back to you.
Genius.
This holiday season, I’ll be doing this…
Using paper plates, plastic forks and spoons and plastic cups
Catering special events instead of cooking (I started catering part of Christmas dinner a few years ago and it’s lifechanging)
Trying to complete my tasks early in the day to knock it out
Allowing some “me time” for something fun
This is what I’m starting with.
Next week…
I’ll be traveling. I’m welcoming a family member to my home to visit for the holiday season and stay with us for a few weeks.
Keeping busy and decorating house
My son is out of school so, I’ll be having my hands full with him. He gets bored easily and wants me to entertain him 24/7 so that’ll be delightful, ha. I really need to find some activities to keep him busy for long periods of time.
I need to finish decorating my house. I have the Xmas tree up and a fireplace garland but, I have the rest of the decor in storage. I need to pull it out and put it up in the house.
Black Friday
There’s Black Friday and all the shopping of Thanksgiving week. I really hope to complete all my holiday shopping before December, if I can. I set this goal every year and never make it, lol.
There are tons of amazing Black Friday sales coming out so, look out for an email from me in the next few days, shouting out some of the deals.
KoalaWriter is 45% off, for example. And, my digital products in my Gumroad store are 40% off with code BLACKFRI23, even my masterminds!
Lots going on!
What’s happening in your household? And, would you outsource some of your tasks to free up your time (and your sanity)?
Cheers,
Jenn
