Hope your weekend was amazing. I wanted to talk about a growing interest of mine. I’ve been doing this for years but, there are periods of time when I take a break from it.
Lately though, I’ve been getting more excited about this.
Blog flipping!
I’m going to show you how to flip a blog in 2 weeks.
This is something I’ve actually done.

How does blog flipping work?
Website flipping. Blog flipping.
Is it the same?
It’s virtually the same. Websites can be blogs. They can also be directories, ecommerce stores, forums, and other kinds of sites.
I have a long history with blogging so I tend to mostly flip these content sites (blogs).

Grow a blog
Flip a blog
You build a blog and flip it for a higher price than your investment.
For example, invest $10 into building a blog and sell it for $300.
How to build a blog
It starts with your niche.
Fashion
Golf
Gardening
Food
Pick whatever you want. Any interest or passion you have is just fine.
Next, you’ll name your site, pick a domain name, get web hosting and connect WordPress.

How to grow a blog
Content!
Content, content, content. Write blog posts, optimize your content, drive traffic, all the things.
I generally focus on starter blogs which are pre-revenue and don’t require any traffic. These sell for a few hundred dollars.
But, if you want to drive traffic and monetize, you can earn FAR MORE!
The growth stage tends to be the biggest time investment in this process.
Two weeks, two months, two years…you can make this process as long or short as you want.
How to flip a blog
It’s time.
You’re ready to sell your blog.
I use Flippa! I also use other places to sell. But, Flippa is pretty starter site friendly so I like using this platform.
The flip can take a day, a few days, weeks, or longer.
It really varies.
I’ve sold virtually every website I’ve built. Mine usually take no longer than 3 months to sell, depending on many factors.
And, that’s how the process works.
How to make money in a blog flipping business
There are two paths you can take…
Volume selling
Holding and selling
Volume selling focuses on selling a high volume of blogs. This can happen easier when you’re managing a portfolio of starter blogs.
For example, build 3 blogs a week (or 12 blogs a month ) and sell them for $200 each.
12 blogs x $200 each = $2,400/mo
Volume sellers will sell up to a 100 or more websites each month.
100 blogs x $200 each = $20,000
Holding and selling works well with longer term blogs. These you’ll hold onto for at least 2 years.
In that time, you can really drive the value of the site up a lot.
One of my 2.5yr old blogs with low traffic and lowish income is valued at around $10K to $11K.
You could build 3 to 5 of these per year, for example, then sell them for $15K each.
5 blogs X $15K each = $75,000
You would reach $75K (in this example) after 2 years of building each site, in this example but, up until that point, you’d be earning the income each site was producing.
Both strategies work!
You could go either route or do both!
What I like about focusing on starter blogs is that they are quick income earners.
So for people who may want to start blog flipping now, in August to make money by November for holiday shopping, they can begin earning within weeks and not have to wait years to get their ROI.
What’s next?

This is the biggest hangup for a lot of people and business. You want to do something, you feel ready but, you never take action.
So you keep dreaming and dreaming about doing the “thing,” but, it doesn’t happen.
Here’s what you need to know about blog flipping…
It takes time (an hour a day, a few hours on the weekend, whatever time you have available you can dedicate to this project - I’d recommend 2 to 3 hours a week minimum)
It takes a budget - a small budget per blog you build because you need to buy web hosting and a domain for each blog you work on
It’s on-demand - you can turn this off and on whenever you want. For example, you can do blog flipping from October through December for end-of-year extra cash if you want or you do it year round or during Spring Break or Summer Break, it’s plug-and-play
The money - there’s no telling how much you can make. Beginners have made $300 to $400 per blog they flipped. I even have one student who began as a beginner and turned website flipping into her full-time career. It was her job!
