Hey there,
It’s June! I wanted to talk about my new niche site project I’ve been thinking about.
As you might know, I do website flipping.
Read more:
It’s something I started years ago and I have to say, once you flip one site, it can get incredibly addicting, in the best way.
I’ve seen this hit other site creators and watch them go from flipping one site to flipping many to creating an entire website purchase/sale brokerage!
Anyway, I flip websites all throughout the year.
There’s money in new and seasoned sites.
The new site money
New sites are starter websites. These are brand-new web assets that likely have minimal to no traffic or earnings.
How much money can you make from new sites?
Tens of thousands of dollars per month or more.
Why do people buy new sites?
People want starter sites for many reasons:
They need a website for their business or project
They are interested in flipping the website
They want the domain name and/or business name
The seasoned site money
Seasoned or established websites are sites that are usually 2+ years old. These seasoned sites will typically have search engine rankings, web traffic, and earnings but, not always.
Seasoned sites are more desirable than starter sites because they are established. They’ve already gone through Google Sandbox time (where Google kind of ignores you in the search rankings because you’re too new).
Here’s what ChatGPT says about Google Sandbox…
You skip this sandbox period usually, when you buy a seasoned site.
How much money can you make from new sites?
Up to millions per website.
Why do people buy new sites?
To buy a money-making business
To drive traffic to their existing business
To embark on a money-making hobby, running a seasoned site
Starter sites vs Seasoned sites
Entrepreneurs build starter sites because they are cheap and easy to develop. You can flip them for profit just as easily but, you won’t make a lot (up to $1,000 a site).
Building a seasoned site takes more time and energy but, can pay off in dividends and when it’s time to flip, earn you far more than a starter site in most cases.
What’s the niche site project I’ll be working on?
I just wanted to share a bit of background on the two before I explain what I’ll be working on.
I’ll be batch-creating and flipping starter sites from now until the rest of the year. So, a 6-month challenge.
I commonly sell starter sites for $150 to $400 each.
If I average $250/site and flip 10 to 20 sites a month, I can add $2,500 to $5,000 per month to my income.
What will I need to do this?
A bank of niche site ideas to draw from
A solid web hosting plan (I use Siteground)
The time and energy to create up to dozens of sites per month
A Flippa account
I have all this, yay.
Hoping I have the time.
But, that’s the beauty of doing a challenge like this. You make the rules. I won’t have a hard and fast rule on how many sites I’ll be flipping. My hope is to flip up to 20 per month but, if I flip 5, I’ll be happy with that.
I’m going to be doing this alone in a solopreneur project. With a team, the sky’s the limit, and building up/selling 20+ sites a month can definitely happen. I want to challenge myself even more and go at this alone.
What do you think?
Would you do something like this?
Want to join me?
Do you have any summer projects you’re working on?
Enjoy your week!
Cheers,
Jenn
